Not to keep your info away from Facebook.

Why I don’t like Facebook ‘Likes’ — Global Neighbourhoods

So give something a "thumbs up" on Facebook and you've given away valuable info about yourself.
So if you like this, don't tell Facebook. Doesn't matter how many privacy settings you choose. If you are on Facebook, they own you.

One Mo' List

Ten of this, seven of that; web 2.0 is bursting with lists. Making lists is touted as one of the cardinal rules of blogging. There are so many lists that there are lists outlining how to deal with lists. Today's lists included How to be more productive with social media; another list of things to do with social media, many of them lists.
I'm listing, already. I'm sinking. The web has more lists then women's magazines. Anybody done a list of the lists?

And this isn't to mention all the lists I'm on. Woe to those are listless. Maybe not. Maybe they're the lucky ones.

There was a flurry of tweets this afternoon about new media guys and beards, and I thought, "What? Someone is bearding for Mashable??? For Chris Brogan?!?" See, beard has more than a single meaning. It can also mean someone who covers for a homosexual or loosely construed to simply mean someone who covers for someone else. So on seeing famous names and "beards" in the same tweets, my first reaction was that someone was bearding these social media thought leaders; assuming their online identities and faking tweets and posts. But no. I went to the source, the clever Lost Jacket site and read the original. Go to the source. Grow your own beard. And enjoy.

Social media is so social.

I just came home from Minneapolis' own Social Media Breakfast(SMB), where new media folks kibitz and learn in the land of 10,000 links.* It was fun. Don't believe the hype about social media folks ("Geeks" "Introverts" "Awkward"). These people are sociable in the best sense of the word; listening, sharing, helping. I came home from the SMB with new contacts, new information, new leads, and a head full of new ideas. If two hours at a social media breakfast make me feel that good, imagine how great I'll feel March 7 after the day-long social media unsummit.

My twitter, myself

What are you doing right now? Reading JumpTheSnark.

Is that a read-worthy twitter? To me, yes. To people who care what you read, yes. Beyond, that, no.

Who do I follow on twitter? People who are on top of subjects I care about, like Chris Brogan and Phil Wilson, who are teaching me about social media. David Brauer covers Twin Cities media. If I found a New York theater insider twittering about Broadway, I'd follow. If my friend Rosalie Maggio, who writes on writing, twittered, I'd follow.

People who break news, offer insight....or make me laugh. Which no one is doing right now.

Why not use twitter to make people laugh? Thats why I tweeted "WWJT?". "Blue slugbug."

It's not just funny-it's food for thought about the form. It's my twitter party and I'll tweet what I want to.
